What were the factors that made you choose NAA to pursue your degree education?
The three factors that attracted me to NAA are, the reputation, professionalism and location of the school. It is noticeable that NAA, a partnership of two respected institutions in Asia Pacific, has an impressive standing in Singapore. Lecturers are flown in from the University of Adelaide. And last but not least, NAA is located in the central which is convenient for students to travel.
Can you share with us why you chose this programme?
Marketing is stimulating, it is more than just business. Marketing allows us to be creative and at the same, learn and understand how people think. We get to analyse the stages consumers go through before making a purchase and then come up with marketing techniques to “influence” their purchasing behaviours.
I like how marketing exposes us to challenges because every project is distinct. Each business, brand or product requires an inimitable marketing plan – and that, makes marketing fun and exciting.
Are there any modules in particular that stand out? Why?
Even though all the marketing modules are interesting, but an elective module, “Systems Thinking for a Complex World” really stood out as it is very pertinent to our daily lives. We were thought to think systematically, where problems are interconnected and in order to solve it, the root has to be uncovered rather than just treating the symptoms. This can be applied to problems faced during working life or even for personal problems.
Describe your learning experience in one sentence.
It is incredible to be able to meet people, be it lecturers or classmates who engage and stimulate my thinking each day.
Would you recommend this program to others and why?
Yes! If you are someone who loves challenges, creativeness and analysing, marketing is the program for you.
What are your lecturers like and how do they enhance your learning?
The lecturers from the University of Adelaide are knowledgeable, approachable and helpful. Other than giving lectures based on the notes, they also share relevant experiences and stories as well as provide helpful advices and insights, which is something that cannot be acquired through books.
Pick 1 value from NAA’s 5 values and how this value applies to you during your learning journey with NAA.
Choose from: Excellence / Leaders / Innovation / Teamwork / Ethics
Teamwork. It is heartening to see that the students in NAA are willing to help one another in school work and studies. I feel that this is a commendable spirit that has been embedded in the school’s culture because we grow and excel as one.
Why should potential students consider your school?
If you are looking for a school to not only receive quality education but also, be able to make friends, NAA is the right place for you.
The projects and class activities will encourage bonding and since classes conducted are usually in a comfortable size, interactions with lecturers are possible. As mentioned, the teamwork spirit is a bonus. In addition, NAA provides a conducive environment to study in and not forgetting the friendly staffs who you can approach when in need.
How has the scholarship helped you?
The scholarship aided in reducing me and my family’s financial burden. Now, I have more time on hand to focus on my studies.
