Through the Global Learning programme, students are provided an abundance of student exchange programme opportunities abroad. Students can take advantage of the University’s excellent global student exchange links to study at various institutions in North and South America, Europe, United Kingdom (UK) and Asia, enrol for a range of intensive courses onshore at the University’s Summer & Winter School to accelerate their studies or take up cross-disciplinary courses at the Adelaide campus for up to a semester.

Applying to study at NAA is easy.
Once you have decided on the programme you wish to study and if you meet the entry requirements, you are ready to apply!
1. Download, complete and sign on these forms:
- International Student Application Form
- Application for Student Pass (eForm 16)
- Additional Information on Applicant for Application for Student Pass (eForm v36)
2. Then, submit them along with these other supporting documents:
(At least 2 months and not more than 6 months before programme commencement)
- One clear copy of Applicant’s valid Passport
- Notarised English translation and a certified copy of the Applicant’s Official Birth Certificate
- Notarised English translation and certified copies of the Highest Qualification’s Certificate and Transcripts
- Bank statement to show a minimum of SGD$30,000 for students from visa-required countries such as China, India, Myanmar, etc
- Supporting document(s) indicating parents’ or applicant’s monthly income such as payslips, employer’s certification letter, etc
- Two recent passport-size photos of the Applicant
- Photocopy of the student pass (applicable to applicants transferring from other schools in Singapore) or Notification for Cancellation of Student Pass, Visit pass and Embarkation Form
- Make arrangement to pay the non-refundable Application Fee of S$374.50 to Ngee Ann-Adelaide Education Centre Pte Ltd. Click here for the various Modes of Payment.
3. Application Outcome
If your application is successful, you will receive a Letter of Offer, Student Contract, Advisory Notes and general information relating to arrivals, pick-up services and accommodation options.
Please read the contents of the Student Contract thoroughly and contact your local representative or NAA if you need any clarifications. To accept the offer, please sign and return the Letter of Offer and Student Contract together with any relevant documents and payment where applicable.
4. Student Pass Application
A foreigner is required to apply for a Student’s Pass if he/she wishes to pursue full-time studies in Singapore in a EduTrusted private education organisation (PEO) that is registered with the Council for Private Education (CPE). International students in Singapore on a Student Pass are not allowed to work for the duration of their studies in Singapore.
The Singapore Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) reserves the right to cancel the Student’s Pass.
If students do not attend classes without any valid reason for 7 consecutive days or their attendance is 90 per cent and below at the end of the programme, they have to surrender their Student’s Pass to the ICA for cancellation within 7 days after any of the fore mentioned occurrences.
Upon the receipt of your signed Letter of Offer and Student Contract, NAA will apply for your Student Pass with Singapore Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA). Applicants are not required to be present in Singapore while their applications are being considered. No extension of stay will be granted while the applications are under processing by ICA.
The general processing time for a new application is approximately 2 to 4 weeks upon the receipt of a duly completed application by the ICA, however some applications may take a longer time to process. We will advise the outcome of the Student Pass application either by email or through your local representative.
5. Payment of Programme Fees
Upon the approved in-principle of the Student Pass application by ICA, you will be required to make payment for the 1st instalment amount as stated in your Student Contract. Thereafter NAA will make arrangement to send a copy of the In-Principle Approval (IPA) Letter to you, which serves as an entry visa and as an evidence of the granted student visa.
If you require airport pick-up, accommodation arrangement, medical check-up etc, please contact us for the arrangement at least 2 weeks before arrival.
6. Collection of Student Pass
Students are required to complete the formalities for the issuance of Student Pass in person at ICA’s office, 4th storey, ICA Building (click here for full address, location on map and operating hours). Applicants must be in Singapore on a valid Immigration pass to collect the Student Pass.
The completion of formalities is strictly by appointment only and student may use ICA e-appointment facility here to make the appointment.
Applicants are required to bring along the following documents when collecting the Student Pass at ICA :
- ICA’s IPA Letter
- One recent passport-size colour photograph
- Medical report
- ICA eForms 16 and v36
- Additional documents required as stated in your IPA letter
The Student Pass will only be issued if the conditions as stipulated in the In-Principle Approval letter, are fulfilled.

International students can request for an airport pick-up service where you will be met by a representative at the Singapore Changi Airport.
If you will like to use this service, please submit your request to your agent/NAA before your arrival in Singapore.
After your arrival, you will attend a comprehensive orientation session which includes useful information and practical advice on your stay in Singapore. This includes student administration matters like student pass, medical check-up, accommodation, opening of bank accounts, transport, medical services, living culture in Singapore etc. It is important to finalise these matters before your school term begins as this eases the transition to your new life in Singapore.
During the orientation, you will also be introduced to your classmates, NAA’s administrative staff, available student services and facilities at NAA. A tour will also be conducted to familiarise yourself with the school campus. As the orientation is conducted to assist you to settle down in Singapore, attendance is compulsory.
All international students should arrange for your own accommodation before arriving in Singapore. We encourage you to start your research early, at last 3 to 4 months before your arrival in Singapore, as choosing a suitable accommodation is an important priority. This eases the transition to your new life in Singapore, before the school term begins.
There are various accommodation options available in Singapore, ranging from off-campus hostels, public housing flats to private rental apartments/houses. Your choice of accommodation will largely depend on your budget and needs.

If you intend to source for accommodation only after your arrival in Singapore, here are some guidelines you may like to take heed:
- Inspect the accommodation well and thorough, and to meet with your prospective landlord in person to negotiate the rental fee, use of facilities with your roommates (if you are sharing) and others
- Be sure to finalise all aspects of the accommodation before signing on the rental contract with all the terms explicitly spelt out in writing
Various Housing Options
Private Student Hostels
There are numerous accommodation providers in Singapore. Please refer to the above recommended list. Each hostel has its own range of charges for different room types and facilities. Monthly rental ranges from S$5oo to S$950.
Room rental in a flat/apartment/house
A room is rented to you in a property which is occupied by the owner. You are required to negotiate with the owner on the rental fee and if this is inclusive of utilities and air-conditioning. The usage of amenities which include internet access, cooking facilities and use of washing machine should also be discussed. Monthly rental ranges from S$500 to S$1,200.
Shared Property Rental
You and your classmates can rent a complete apartment/house as a group and share amenities available, such as the living room and the kitchen. You will have to do your own cleaning and may need to pay for your own internet and utility bill. Shared housing can also be furnished or unfurnished. Monthly rental ranges from S$2,000 to S$3,000.
In general, the housing costs include one month rental refundable deposit, one month rental upfront and may include a half month for agent’s commission. A minimum duration of stay is required.
Though the school is not liable for the rental agreements negotiated between you and the hostel management / private housing agent / landlord, all international students are always welcome to contact the NAA office for advice and assistance on accommodation matters.

Population, Language & Religion
With an estimated 5.5 million population in Singapore, Chinese count for the majority, follow by the Malay and Indian households. Eurasians and people of other descent form the minority.
The four official languages in Singapore are Mandarin, Malay, Tamil and English, the most common language used as it unites the various ethnic groups.
With its ethnic mix also comes a diverse set of religions. Singapore’s skyline boasts the distinctive minarets of mosques, spires of gothic cathedrals, intricate figurines of Hindu temple gods and the distinctive roof architecture of Chinese temples. The main religions are Islam, Taoism, Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism and Judaism.
Transportation & Telecommunication
Well-connected by a matrix of public transport options ranging from the MRT trains, buses and taxis, you can safely and very easily get to your desired destination in Singapore. Also, there are three main telecommunication service providers which are M1, Singtel and StarHub, that students can either subscribe to their post-paid mobile/ broadband monthly plans or to opt for the fuss-free prepaid SIM cards purchasable at a convenience store.
The weather in Singapore is of a typical tropical climate that is generally warm and humid all year round, with slight variations in temperature from 33oC in the day and around 23 oC at night. Humidity is usually above 75 per cent. These may change with occasional winds and bouts of rainfalls which occur throughout the year, with heavier downpours especially during the monsoon season from November to January.
Singapore is a large city with a range of options to suit the lifestyle you may choose to lead. Daily necessities and luxuries are readily available. An international student in Singapore spends, on average, about S$980 to S$3,450 a month on living expenses. This amount will, of course, vary depending on your lifestyle and course of study.
The table below gives a rough estimate of basic monthly expenditure for an international student in Singapore. They do not include tuition fees and travel expenses from your home country to Singapore.
