President: Zakes Quek
Name of Programme and Year Graduated: Master of Applied Finance, Year 2008
Zakes started his journey with the Adelaide University Alumni Association Singapore (AUAAS) management committee since 2012 and steps up to serve in his new role as President in July 2016 for a two-year term.
Zakes has the responsibility of overseeing the Singapore Alumni and to drive the success of the association among its members, University of Adelaide (UoA) and Ngee Ann-Adelaide Education Centre (NAA).
Zakes is currently the Regional Manager Asia Pacific for the 3rd Largest Logistics Service Provider Globally in the Chemical Industry.
In his professional career spanning almost a decade, Zakes has taken on leadership roles covering Southeast Asia and Australasia markets in industries like Heavy Machinery and Consumer Lifestyle Electronics.
Zakes also volunteers as an Advisor to the University of Canberra Alumni Chapter of Singapore, Volunteer Executive Committee.
Zakes enjoys being engaged with his young niece and music.
Vice President: Ram Gerthi
Name of Programme and Year Graduated: Master of Business Administration, Year 2004
Ram joined the (AUAAS) management committee in 2015 and contributed in the areas of charitable event (CSR) and social networking events (Bar Night) to promote closeness and deep interactions amongst members and has strived to organise meaningful activities and events that can benefit members and more importantly create enthusiasm in members to participate.
He took on the new role of Vice President in March 2017.
In his professional career, Ram is currently the General Manager of a leading property management firm. He has vast experience in the service, financial and hospitality industry. He has attended various professional courses in NLP and Dale Carnegie training and he is also ACTA certified.
Ram is a dedicated husband and a father to his lovely four young children. His weekends are spent mostly with his family and he enjoys badminton, bowling and doing family activities. He is an avid fan of F1 car racing.
Ram has a strong desire to make the Alumni vibrant and full of energy and colour. His key objective is to foster a spirit of loyalty and develop a special relationship with alumni members and he is humbled to be part of this current management team who share the same goals.
Honorary Secretary: Pearleen Lui
Name of Programme and Year Graduated: Bachelor of Commerce (International Business & Marketing), Year 2013
Pearleen serves as a Secretary for Adelaide University Alumni Association Singapore (AUAAS) since June 2014, where she serves alongside dedicated members who are committed in contributing back to their alma mater.
Pearleen graduated from Bachelor of Commerce (International Business & Marketing) class of 2013. She was a Ngee Ann Kongsi Merit scholar, and was invited to join the Golden Key International Honour Society. She has six years of experience working in foreign affairs and business operations field.
Pearleen enjoys volunteering and water sports during her free time.
Treasurer: Jeffrey Lam
Name of Program and Year Graduated: Master of Business Administration, Year 2007
Jeffrey is currently the Regional Business Development manager with a Swedish firm.
Over the last 20 years, Jeff held various functional and management positions in various capacities. This includes a 3 years stint as a business unit manager in China where he discovered his love for Chinese culture. An engineer by training but a marketing person by occupation, he is passionate about technology and how it changes our lives.
Since June 2015, Jeffrey has been serving in the AUAAS Management committee. He hopes to encourage more UoA graduates to connect and serve with AUAA.
In his spare time, Jeff enjoys running, cycling, swimming, yoga and the occasional game of Mahjong.
He resonates with Bruce Lee’s quote to “Be Happy, Never Satisfied”.
Assistant Honorary Secretary: Michelle Ee
Name of Program and Year Graduated: Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, Year 2014
Michelle is early in her career as a medical doctor. She graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from The University of Adelaide (UoA). She is currently pursuing Family Medicine residency to attain a Master of Medicine in Family Medicine.
Michelle has served to advocate for her colleagues by taking up the following roles:
– Sixth Year International Student Representative at the Adelaide Medical -Students’ Society (AMSS)
– Transitional Year Representative in the residency programme
Michelle participates actively in alumni events as she appreciates the value in networking and maintaining friendships. She strives for the alumni of the UoA on-shore and off- shore campuses to build a strong network.
